As we sat and talked we were reminded of how many times God has stepped into our lives and provided a miracle. This blog will be the opportunity for us to write these down for the next generation, and hopefully inspire you in your walk with God. Come by every Tuesday for a new post.

Healing shall spring forth speedily

Isaiah 58:8
Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you. The Glory of The Lord shall be your rear guard.

Several years ago my husband was in the hospital having back surgery.  This one night I stayed home because I was suffering with a sore throat.  I was taking penecillin at the time, had used penecillin my entire life for infections.

My sister Lori had stopped by to see my hubby and called me from his room just to see how I was feeling.  I guess I didn't sound good so she stopped by our house.

I was sitting watching TV in my pajamas and she took one look at me and said OK get up, put your shoes on--we're going to the hospital.   Wouldn't even let me get dressed.  She said my face had doubled in size and my speech was slurred. WHAT--I didn't know any of this.

By the time we got to the hospital my legs were triple their normal size and black and blue.

I was in ANAPHLACTIC SHOCK,  after a few hours I was starting to come around and stayed at the hopital for a couple of days.  I can never have penicillin again, If I do it will definately kill me.  My system has had lingering affects from the episode and it has caused asthma and allergies, BUT it wasn't fatal.

Do I consider that phone call a coincidence-NO.

Truly a caring family is worth everything. Thank you Lori for checking on your big sister.

A Spring Walk

Schwetzingen Castle

We decided it was a beautiful morning and my hubby and I took our little girl for a walk.  We went through Schwetzingen Gardens that was about a mile from our apartment. On the walk back we stopped at a few shops. You always left the pram outside the doors of the shops when you went in.  We weren't thinking about it still being chilly and the stove heater being on in the center of the shop.  K was around 15 months old.

She toddled around and went to the stove and put both  hands flat on the side.  I still cringe when I think of it, as you might have just done.

The initial scream was horrific my Our hearts dropped when we saw her beautiful little hands immediately blister.  She cried herself to sleep and we prayed as we rushed home.

Being young and uniformed we just let our sweetie sleep when we got home.

When she woke up she seemed to not be in any pain.  She was her usual smiling and playful little girl.  Every time she fell or picked up a toy we cringed but she just went on as if noting was wrong.  The blisters lasted about 2 weeks and she never cried. She seemed to not even know they were there.  I cared for them and kept them clean and
remarkably they didn't leave a single mark.

Today those beautiful  hands use touch every day not only with her family but in her calling.
She is a third level neo-natle nurse.

A Miracle Yes!   But even in those times that they are obviously a miracle some would say it was just not as bad as it looked or that is was just accidental...

Blessings, Debbie

Refocus and consecration for things to come

Joshua 3:5  Then Joshua addressed the people: "Sanctify yourselves.  Tomorrow God will work miracle wonders among you."

God works in mysterious ways. Money was very tight; Greg was making less in commissions and times were tough. We were trusting for better times. We were working through the Dave Ramsey Money Makeover and trying to pay down credit card charges. I felt that change was coming however never realized how dramatic our lives would change in just a few short weeks.

It was April 2010; Good Friday. Our church opened the sanctuary from 8AM – 5PM for communion. Greg and I decided to take a break from our work and we met at the church for communion and prayer. We sat in the pew and prayed together for strength and miracles in our finances and our lives; we took communion together and then returned to work. I believe this was the first step in God’s preparation for our transformation; certainly NO accident.

April 9th, 2010, I attended a nursing symposium in Columbia, Missouri. The guest speaker was Fr. Nick Mezacapa who is the rector at Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester, Minnesota. His church is across the street from the Mayo Clinic. He spoke to the nurses attending the symposium about refocusing on the important things in life, learning to view our careers as a vocation and not just a job. He spoke about learning to use the gift of a “job” as a way to minister to others. Wow – I was impressed! I started looking at my life in new ways – I wrote a mission statement for my life and started focusing on my Christian walk and how to influence others. I started using my skill as a nurse to minister to my patients. I decided that as I listened to lung and heart sounds with my stethoscope I would secretly pray for my patients. This has become my routine – and has been life changing for me.

The events leading up to the loss of my husband’s job (April 26, 2010) described in Part I of this blog, were not accidental. God NEVER gives you more than you can handle. You may be scared to the core and may even question the events but you must trust in the purpose and nurturing of our Heavenly Father. I believe that God was preparing my heart for a very difficult time that was just around the corner!!

A 7 year old's terrible mistake and a cry of dispair for help.

Psalms 40: 1-3

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,
and He turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the pit of dispair;
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
He has given me a new song to sing
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what He has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord.

I was seven years old and we lived on a very busy 4-lane street.  At that time children walked home from school and there were patrol guards at each intersection.

This one day I wanted to play after school with a friend of mine--her name escapes me now.  She lived across the 4-lane street.  I asked my Mom if I could go play and she said "Ann is the patrol guard still there?".  I looked -he wasn't-but my wants overtook my good sense.  I told my my Mom YES.  She said OK and I went out the door.

Well as I entered the street I was struck by a teenager driving a car. It struck me and knocked me 50 feet into a telephone pole. DID not run over me.  My poor Mom realized what time it was and realized I had probably fibbed.  Just as she reached the front door, she saw the car hit me!!!! OH MY--I can realize how she felt having had 2 children of my own.

NOW THE NOT ACCIDENTALLY part---My Mom had pulled all of my hair back into a very full pony tail that day.   I had a tight permanent so there was lots of fluff and fullness in this ponytail. The doctors said this is where my head hit and took the main hit on the telephone poll. THIS IS WHAT SAVED MY LIFE, I have no doubt that my Mom had no idea why she fixed my hair this way that particular day.

I'm certain for these next few days my parents went through agony, they prayed and called out to God to save my life and not have any long term results.
I was in a coma for about 4 days they tell me.  I had no long term affects from the accident.   About 2 weeks after the accident My Dad became a CHRISTIAN.

Praise him.
